Someone Like Me [ShizuoxReader] Prologue

Prologue – ES-CA-PE (Funny, it’s spelled just like the word “escape”)

 *CRASH*

All kinds of alarms can be heard throughout the laboratory building.

Papers began flying through the air as the frantic researchers ran in confusion while deciding whether to try and assist the pursuit, or, like most of them, to simply hide. The harshly white halls were filled with fine dust that hovered like an unsettling fog.

“Quick! We just spotted her going toward the East wing!” Yells a researcher into a phone in one of the computer labs; as a noise, which sounded like 1,000 glass panes being shattered, could be heard down the hall.

“Dammit, we can’t let her escape now!!! Follow her!!” commands one of the chief scientists.

It wasn’t that tough for them to find the young woman’s trail, for she ruined and toppled everything that got in her way. She was on a mission. She had to get out.

Enough of this. ENOUGH!!

With her goal strongly and firmly in mind, she finally made it to one end of the building; while leaving a tornado’s path in her wake. She tore into a few supporting columns, causing part of the second floor to collapse. Once it fell, she stopped for just a second to assess the situation and was relieved in that moment knowing the chase was over, more or less.

The girl took off outside and sprinted as fast as she could through the grass, making her way to the forest near the building as the sirens still called out looking for her in the darkness. She didn’t care if she got cut or scraped by rocks and thorns at this point. She tried desperately to make her way toward somewhere safe, anywhere. However, it was dark, she wasn’t sure where she was, and exhaustion began to sink in as her adrenaline left her.

The young woman’s sprint fell into tired steps; each one with her feet getting heavier. Almost half-dead, she looks ahead and sees a clearing. A road?  She thought for a minute that if it was a road, she could have easily been spotted by the research team and taken back. But, she felt in her weary soul that her capture would not happen, but instead she would be saved.

She slowly made it to the edge of the woods. Tears almost filled her eyes as she viewed the road in front of her. She collapsed at the edge of the pavement. Before slipping out of consciousness, she thought to herself about who might end up finding her, but at this point, she didn’t care whatsoever. And with that, she fell asleep.
